My blogging experience

6 May

Although I am not a big fan of blogging I have to admit that keeping up with a blog throughout the course of the semester was a sort of outlet for me to not only express myself and my philosophical views, but as a way to help others. Whatever the topic, every good blog should help its readers and I hope that I have accomplished that. My goal was to educate, inspire, and bring like-minded people together. I think using Twitter helped promote my blog so that all my followers could get to my WordPress page. I also think I could have improved my blog if I would have updated more frequently and consistently. But, being a college student and not a professional blogger I do not always have time to blog.

copywriting-hugA major benefit I have received from blogging was how to organize all my thoughts into a paragraph and a list. I usually have a problem with trying to translate everything that goes on inside my head onto a screen with a limited word count, but now I am communicating more effectively. I still need to work on being concise with my writing, but by writing more frequently I will only be able to improve! Another benefit is that it helped me establish my online-identity. I usually don’t like to post too much online because I don’t want people to judge me, but by keeping a blog I have gained more of an online persona where I can comfortably express myself. Keeping a blog will definitely help with the career I want to pursue which is working at an advertising agency. I hope one day to be a copy-writer in a creative department, so writing in a  concise, clear way will help for sure.

A change of scenery changes my life

4 May

As I have said before traveling to new places can change your life. It can open your mind to new things, give you a sense of peace, and let you figure out who you are. So with that said, see how the Northwest changed my life through my trip photos to Washington state. Get ready to be inspired by the nature of the Evergreen State.

Education: The root of success and happiness?

29 Apr

Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.

Being self-aware or knowing yourself can ultimately lead you to your main focus in life. Where you focus your attention, your emotions, reactions, personality and behavior determine where you go in life.

So for my video, I interviewed my mother and sister asking them to reflect on their own lives and answer a few questions. Some questions included:  If they are currently happy with their life, changes they could have made, and if they could offer advice to offer young people.

From both of their interviews, it seemed that a college education was the root of knowing oneself and the key to happiness/success since it provides opportunity to learn and grow as an individual. This is where you will develop your self-awareness and main focus in life.

Being Independent & living on your own terms

17 Apr

Let me start off by giving a shout out to all the people who are I.D.E.P.E.N.D.E.N.T.

But seriously, it’s important to know how it is to do things for yourself and not relying on people to help you. This is known as being self-reliant. And I’m talking about the little things. Whether it’s going to get a quick bite to each at the local sandwich shop or studying by yourself at the library. It’s healthy to be independent because it allows you to be in charge of your life and gives you the ability to reach your goals. While it is definitely important to have the support of family, friends, colleagues, teachers, significant others etc., you also need a good balance of independence.

5 reasons why being independent is GOOD:

1. Control of your own density
Sometimes, it just feels good to ride a bus by yourself with a cup of coffee in hand relaxing without any distractions from friends or company.  When your by yourself you can make your own rules because you are the sole controller of what happens.

2. It gives you confidence at work & school
Let’s face it, your friends & family aren’t always going to be around you 24/7. At some point and time your going to be faced with decisions you have to decide for yourself & by yourself. Like at work, when you are dealing with a customer one-on-one or have to write up a 3-page essay test for that philosophy class. It’s important to know how to think for yourself. The more you think on your own, the easier it becomes to make these decisions & that’s when the confidence of being on your own kicks in!

3.  Allows you to gain a perspective on your life
Only YOU know what you truly think & feel and no one else can decide what is right and wrong for you. Of course we are all influenced by the people around us, family, and friends in our lives, but take these influences and decide whether you truly agree with them. We often shape our views on the experiences we face in life, so it’s good to take some alone time to truly evaluate your life experience & figure out who the person you are.

4. You will be successful!
You don’t need family, friends, or significant others to take care of you. Ultimately, you are the person to take care of YOU. If you can get a job, make your own money, and support yourself, you can be self-reliant & be a very successful person. Once you learn to become self-reliant, success & luxury will follow.

5. Be yourself
Most importantly, you are an individual. Once you know who you are, you do anything you want to do in life. Once you love yourself and prove to people that you are strong, then you can be a good friend, family member, and significant other to someone else. & that’s what it all boils down to: is love.

Mobile App: MobileVation

1 Mar

001aYeah it’s obviously pretty cute.

MobileVation is my mobile app! MobileVation is your quote course for daily motivation. You type in whatever search term you wish and my app will pull up quotes that match your search to motivate and inspire. We all need a little daily boost to get through our hectic lives, and sometimes a little bit of encouragement can go a long way.  Since my blog is a self-help blog that features tips and advice on problems we face in life, my whole goal is to motivate people to be the best person they can be. This is why I chose the name MobileVation.

Problem it solves: The goal for this app is to make someone’s day a little better and to build confidence within themselves.

What it does: It is a quote database where people can comment, favorite, and store quotes they are interested in. The best feature is that people with similar quote interests can connect with others and exchange advice about the topics they are searching.

Why people would want to use it: Quotes are a simple pick-me-up to help people in their daily lives. MobileVation provides a sense of community and connection. And that to me is what my whole topic is about. Coming together and dealing with issues we face in life.
